I am preparing the 2008 issue of Animation Journal, which will be published in October. To fill out the issue, I’m looking for book/DVD reviews, discussions of production practices/work in progress with an animation studies perspective, research or teaching methods related discussions or aids, or other short pieces. These are non-refereed items, generally ten manuscript pages (2500 words) and under. These items are not primarily promotional in nature (no advertising).

Please contact me if you have material you’d like me to consider.

Animation Journal ( http://www.animationjournal.com ) is a scholarly  publication that has been around since 1992. It contains both peer-reviewed writing and non-reviewed short pieces, and it comes out once a year. It is not affiliated with any institution. Animation Journal is sometimes confused with the industry-oriented Animation Magazine,  the more recent Sage publication called Animation: An Interdisciplinary Journal, or Animation Studies, which is an onlinejournal at the Society for Animation Studies website. It gets
confusing! Anyway, I look forward to hearing from any interested writers.

Incidentally, I am always looking for writing that is for peer review as well. The normal deadline is February 1 for the current year, but I consider work as it comes in, and I am happy to respond to writing at any stage of completion (draft, outline, multiple chapters of dissertations, conference papers, and of course completed papers).

Sincerely,

Maureen Furniss
